Additional Income as a Part-Time Travel Advisor

Sell travel on your own schedule — alongside a job, family life or retirement — placed with one of our host agency partners, with access to our leads once you’re a verified Specialist.

Additional Income is our part-time path for people with no travel-industry background who want to earn on the side by selling travel. There’s no office to rent and no experience required. What you do need is a good host agency, solid training and a way to meet clients, and this path brings all three together.

Included on the Additional Income Path

Placement with a host agency partner

You’ll be placed with one of our host agency partners, picked to suit your goals and the hours you have available.

Training from your host

Your host agency trains you, handles your bookings and pays out your commissions.

Leads from our websites

After you earn Specialist status with at least one major travel supplier or destination, our network can send you leads. Your own bookings earn you 80% of the commission, and bookings from our leads earn you 50%. How the split works »

Free directory listing

Your own free listing across our consumer travel directories lets travelers find and reach you. A traveler who reaches you through your own listing is your client outright: no lead share applies, and the full commission is yours.

You won’t be our employee. You’ll be placed with one of our host agency partners — an established host that handles your bookings, pays your commissions and trains you. Our part: finding the right partner for you, opening our leads program to you once you qualify, and staying in your corner as you grow.

Is This Path Right for You?

  • You’re passionate about travel and want it to pay, while keeping the job you have now.
  • You’re retired, semi-retired or home during the day and looking for rewarding part-time work.
  • Friends and family already come to you to plan their trips, and you’d like to earn from it.
  • You want to test the travel business before committing to it full-time.

Brand new to the industry? Start with our 8-step roadmap to becoming a travel advisor.

Aiming higher? The Career Fast Track adds an established website of your own, paid first-year host fees, a Showcase listing on each of our consumer directories and twelve months of one-on-one help from Peter.

Meet Your Mentor, Peter “Mr. Cruise” Coloyan

Peter Coloyan — “Mr. Cruise” — leads Be a Travel Advisor. He began selling travel in 1972, sold his first cruise in 1974 at age 14, and has been a full-time travel professional since 1977. Over that career he has sold or originated over $500 million in cruise sales and trained upward of 500 travel advisors. From 2001 to 2007 he ran his own host agency, building it to 87 advisors and $17 million a year in sales before selling it to Expedia CruiseShipCenters.

Why does that matter to a newcomer? Because Peter has seen host agencies from the owner’s chair. He understands what separates one host from another, and which kind of new advisor flourishes where. His focus today is simple: helping the travel community get ready for what comes next.
